Londi Carbajal, Ivy's Chief Education Officer, Leads PD at Ministry of Education in Beijing

On March 12th, 2010, Londi Carbajal, Chief Education Officer of Ivy Group and Wenshu Yao, Educational Associate of the Ivy Group, were invited by Ministry of Education of Dong Cheng District to make a speech on Multiple Intelligence for local pre-school teachers for their professional development, with the topic “Teaching and Learning in MI Kindergarten”. More than 150 teachers participated in this PD workshop.

The workshop was well received by the audience as Londi shared valuable teaching experience applying MI theory in Ivy classroom. Below is a synopsis of their speech:

Teaching and Learning in a Multiple Intelligences Kindergarten
Gardner’s work concerning multiple intelligences has had a profound impact on thinking and practice in education around the world. Today, the theory can be found in use in pre-school, school-age, higher, vocational, and adult education initiatives.

In practice, this feature reminds us that every student in every classroom brings a collection of all eight intelligences, each to a varying degree of strength. It informs us that all children can learn and flourish.

There is no right way to apply multiple intelligences theory. It is a descriptive theory of intelligence; it is neither a specific educational method nor approach to teaching. And, it is not a curriculum.

You are not going to see teachers in many of these photos, but I assure you they are close by. Teachers in Ivy Schools form strong bonds with children. They get to know children as individuals – their strengths, their challenges and their special interests.
